People Sometimes

 

Sometimes people see me

and they only see dollar signs

They don’t really see me

They don’t stop and take the time

Sometimes people hear me

But they don’t listen to what I am saying

Too busy waiting for a pause to speak

Sometimes people fear me

Because you fear what you don’t understand

He gave me crutches to lean on in this land

Sometimes people don’t want to be near me

They give varying excuses

I’m too fat, too ugly, or too ruthless

Reasoning with them is useless

Sometimes people steer me

But I don’t mind driving…

I think if I had to put a finger on it…

I just didn’t like all the lying…

As long as I pretend

People will be my friend

We used to play all day

They gasped at our pupils

We played balls and jax

I still remember when
they sent your father to prison
I would always say "hey!'
ask “how you living?”
