Hang-On

You can never hang on to it.
It eludes your grasp.
It always escapes you.
Or just doesn't last.

You knew right from the start of it.
Deep down in your heart of it.
You knew you couldn't have it.
Even if you grabbed it...

Or stole it away...
Or if you saved the day...
You still would be hated.
Better belated...cuz

You can never hang on to it.
Or it just doesn't last...
Better off forgetting.
Then live in the past...
Memories like daggers and broken glass...

It'll curse your tomorrows...
Cause you nothing but sorrow...

Sometimes the world seems a stage
but this life is moreso a trap
Some stumble to fame
Others die by a clap

You can never hang on to it.

Or it just doesn't last...

Why do I always remember...?

My soul stuck in the past...

Sometimes things go well for a short time
for more than a blink
it's been such a long climb
so then maybe you think
That for once you can
overcome all those pains
Then it's a song on the radio
or a smell in the wind
And then all those memories just come pouring in...

You can never hang on to it.

Or it just doesn't last...

Doomed to regret what has...

Come to pass...
