The Hunger For More

It's really such a fascinating concept
One for which I had a lack of consciousness
What exactly is hunger anyway?
Why do I eat 3 meals spaced out in my day...
Is it truly for the economy?
To create a human focused on satisfaction?
That way they do not value empathy
Made to only chase reactions?
i found that i had been eating for comfort
Seeking hormone releases from my brain
Pleasure to dull all my mental pain
& anguish,
Coupled with a lack of activity
It caused my body to languish
Atrophy
At just the right time
A beautiful woman broke my heart
Ever being a positive person
I reasoned it was time for a new start
A reassessment of my soul, mind, and body
A perfect time to build a new me!
Oddly i began to find junk food revolting
Patting my belly wishing it would not be
There...
& that i could fit smaller sexier underwear
& oh yes there were tears!
Old familiar fears!
Lamentations over one too many beers...
i pondered our ancestors
Come now.
How could one eat 3 times a day
While running from predators?
Stalking mammoths or hunting rabbits
It just couldn't be
They probably snacked on leaves, nuts, and berries
Grapes and other fruits
mixed with occasional protein bursts
Wash, rinse, repeat, in a loop
The modern human was engineered ya see
To hunger for more constantly
They used all the weapons at their disposal
Music, magazines, comic books, and t.v.
Fashion, the silver screen, smart phones, and CDs
To create a world where many succumb to gluttony
All while they charged various fees
